Rebate Marketing Gimmiks....

Has anybody else noticed that AT&T Premier is using cheap rebate marketing gimiks to sell their phones. Take the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket for example. They're also doing this on the HTV Vivid, LG Nitro, and most other new phones.

 

The AT&T Stores and Personal website pricing is........

Retail (Non-Contract):   $549.99

2 Year Contract Price:    $199.99

.....which gives you a contract savings of $350.00.

 

The AT&T Premier Store pricing is.......

Retail (Non-Contract):  $619.99

2 Year Contract Price:   $299.99.

....which gives you a contract savings of $320.00.

 

Basically they upped the retail price by $70 and decreased the contract savings by $30 (EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE THE SAME COMPANY) to make us think that the $100 discount that we get as premier business customers actually exists.

 

I remember when we actually did receive a $100 discount off the instore and standard at&t website pricing. When i was FINALLY able to get a hold of Premier they informed me that they're allowed to market different pricing levels than what at&t has and that the $100 rebate only works on purchases made on the Premier Store website even though it doesn't say that it can't be used in stores.
