Fail to connect to Remote Desktop

Hello,
I am running Windows 7 64 Bit and AT&T Network Client 8.1.0.3002 and have the following issue. If I have the Network Client up and connected to the IBM network and attempt to establish a remote desktop connection to my laptop running Windows XP pro it fails to find the machine. I can bypass this behavior by making the remote desktop connection first before connecting to the IBM network, however, it causes my Remote desktop session to disconnect some time and will fail to find the laptop until I disconnect the VPN session in the AT&T Client. This behavior has only been seen since the software update to 8.1.0.3002.
Any advice or help to permanently resolve this issue would be appreciated.
