If you are running OS 4.XX on a 3G/3GS or a Iphone 4, please be considerate of your Exchange system administrators and see about installing this on your phone

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3398

It can cause a Exchange server to lock up or crash

When using your company email with iPhone, you need to ensure that your account is provisioned correctly with the correct data plan for the iphone. If uncertain about your data plan provisioning you can chat with a live specialist at www.att.com/biztech and click on "Chat Now".

In addition to having the correct data plan the following needs to be verified by your system administrator or correct contact at your company:

• Email: Enter your corporate e-mail address

• Domain: Enter the company domain (optional)

• Username: Enter username used to log into company's corporate network.

• Password: Enter the password used to log into company's corporate network.

• Description: Enter a description for the account, such as "Work", "Exchange", etc. You can also find steps on how to configure

ActiveSync by going to our Answer Center at www.wireless.att.com/answer-center and search for “Configure Exchange ActiveSync using iPhone”.

You may also want to check with your system admin that you have permissions to connect to Exchange. Your ability to connect with a mobile device can be enabled/disabled by the sys admin.

One possible reason for the error message if lack of an internet connection. Verify that you are able to connect to the internet on your phone through an app or Safari.
