FirstNet black eSIM

I'm getting conflicting answers on this.  Do you have an eSIM available for FirstNet that is the functional equivalent of the black FirstNet SIM?

Hello justinblumer,

Thank you for your post and thank you for your participation within the Business Community. The eSIM is a sim that is embedded into the phone. Not all phones are FirstNet ready. Do you have a FirstNet account you would us to review your device and compatibility?

Thank you

Yes, please do. Account #

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max that currently has a FirstNet black SIM.

Thanks,

Thank you for those details, Justin. We want to just clarify to ensure that we understand what information you are asking for. Instead of using a FirstNet SIM card, you want to know if there is an eSIM that gives the same functionality as a FirstNet SIM, correct?

Correct. I’d like to use an eSIM on that iPhone with my existing line that has full Band 14 functionality just like the black physical card.

Thank you for the clarification. You can use Dual SIM card service, but just be aware that Dual SIM capability can interfere with FirstNet connectivity. You will not be able to access FirstNet connectivity when a call is in progress on the non-FirstNet SIM. If you select the non-FirstNet SIM as the SIM to receive data, then all data is sent and received using that SIM cards's configuration, not the FirstNet SIM card's configuration. That could potentially cause you to exceed your personal data plan.

Understood. The second SIM in my phone will either be an employer paid FirstNet line, or a foreign carrier’s SIM which would be turned off unless I am abroad.

With that understanding, how can I get my account on a Band 14 capable eSIM? I was in a local store the other day, and they only had AT&T branded eSIMs, and they were unable to assure me that this eSIM would give black physical SIM card equivalent service. The employees in this store worked in several company stores and none of them had ever seen a FirstNet branded eSIM. Does such a thing actually exist? Can I call FirstNet customer service on a weekday and have the information read to me?

Shorter: what is the procedure to complete this process?

Hi Justin,

My apologies for the delay in response. It might be best if you used a physical FirstNet SIM card and used an eSIM for your T-Mobile service. If you'd like, I can contact you to connect you with our FirstNet customer service team that has more details on this and you can ask them any additional questions you may have. If you'd like me to connect you, please send us a private message by clicking here and provide us with your best call back number and the best time to contact you.

Thank you,

AT&T - can you please just answer the question (or admit that you do not know)?  The thread's question was a simple one - is there a FirstNet eSIM that is equivalent to the black FirstNet SIM.  It should be a yes or no.  Instead, this thread goes like this:

OP: Is there a FirstNet eSIM?

AT&T: defines eSIM and asks if OP has FirstNet

OP: Yes, has FirstNet.

AT&T: clarifies that OP is asking about a FirstNet eSIM

OP: Yes, OP is asking about a FirstNet eSIM.

AT&T: FirstNet works with dual SIMs (still not addressing whether there is an eSIM)

OP: Ok.

AT&T: OP should just use a physical FirstNet SIM.

This is why these forums are so frustrating.  People have a simple question and the "help" has to ask a bunch of immaterial questions, and by the end, never actually answers the question.

Hello @adamwest,

At this time, there is no eSIM that can be used as a FirstNet SIM. If you need any account specific information or assistance, please send us a private message with your account and contact details by clicking here.

Thank you,

Wait, so If there's no eSIM that can be used for FirstNet, then how am I currently using a FirstNet eSIM on my iPhone 11? When I added my iPhone to FirstNet, the form just asked me for my IMEI2. Almost immediately, once my order went through, my phone prompted me to install a new carrier profile and cellular plan from AT&T.. and so far it's been working?

what does it show for your carrier in the upper left hand of your phone? FirstNet or AT&T?

You can use the eSIM that's equivalent to the AT&T orange SIM on FirstNet (I tried it too and it worked fine). The question in the OP was whether there was a black SIM equivalent eSIM, which it appears there is not. The orange SIM lacks certain features, I believe relating to network prioritization.

Thank you, I really appreciate the response and my initial frustration was definitely not directed at you.

Thanks adamwest.  I got frustrated and gave up here on getting a straight answer.
