First net is a scam bordering fraud

Wife and I switched from Verizon to AT&T First Net upon very pursuasive visit with the AT&T store in Cave Creek AZ. What a mistake as everything promised was one big lie. We were promised unlimited data $65 per line and basically a .99 cent phones. Little that we knew, $65 turned into $100 or more per month and magically .99 cent phones turned into a $1000 ones. Few complaints later and 6 months after we signed up, First Net arbitrarily determined that our first responder jobs “don’t apply for First Net any longer”. Agregiously enough AT&T disabled both of our devices without any notice at 8AM on 07/29/2020, and demanded that we visit the store in order to restore service. As it always happens we had an emergency medical situation at 8:20 AM and were unable to reach help. It is impossible reaching the supervisors, most of the time 611 help either pretends they can’t hear us, hangs up on us or redirects the call to the voicemail. We are yet to succeed at talking to anyone from management and are reporting this conduct of lies/fraud and bite and switch tactics to Arizona attorney general office, BBB and will be exposing this to our coworkers and the community. AT&T employees at the store said of AT&T having severe culture problems and issues with account management and overall accountability.

Hello @Alanford33

Thank you for posting on the Business Community.  We greatly apologize for this frustrating experience.  We can have someone look into this further and engage management accordingly.

May I confirm your work title as a First Responder as you mentioned FirstNet stated it was not eligible?

Chris,

Thank you for a quick response. Due to your disclosure of being “ AT&T employee, who is on the AT&T website, yet you don’t represent the AT&T’s position, strategies or opinions”. We kindly request that we discuss our position, employment etc. with qualified representatives of management or legal who can speak for AT&T in this serious matter.

Thank you for responding. We were in contact twice with Celeste with AT&T retention department. First call was us explaining the predicament and today was the offer to retain service. Nature of our call was not to retain service so the call back was from a wrong department, we want out of our contract.

We are not willing to remain AT&T customers as well as we are not willing to pay $1,380 in order to terminate the contract and “buy out” our phones which were purchased under false pretenses and misrepresentations. We want to separate and cancel any affiliation or contract with AT&T.

With these “offers” - AT&T is not leaving us other means but to pursue this matter further with FCC, BBB and local law enforcement. The way you treat your customers and your tactics are truly unbelievable.

thank you for responding,

This time around we got called by the “representative of the office of senior management”. This individual offered us $200 “for our troubles” or if we want out of the fraudulent contract we have to pay out the phones in the amount of $1350.

We have spent over 20 hours in dealing with AT&T and $200 is not going’s to do the trick sorry AT&T.

When we said that we are proceeding with FCC (already filed), BBB and AAG office complaints, “individual” laughed out loud and said “that’s fine you will have to deal with me again and the offer will be the same so we better take it”.

This is a typical “bait and switch” scheme, AT&T is a shady business BUYER BEWARE!

Hi, I was totally scammed by ATT store rep into signing up for FirstNet. It’s been an expensive nightmare I still have not woken from. Have you got anywhere with BBB or AG?

I also switched over to firstnet and my family to AT&T. It has been a disaster. Every month I have to deal with a Rep. to "fix" my bill. I am on autopay and this month AT&T took our more money than I expected and I still have an outstanding balance with firstnet. Do yourself a favor and stay away from thses people.

I am a soldier and first responder who recently transferred my account to FirstNet for access to comms and data during emergency reaponses. The AT&T Store manager stated my account prior to the switch should never have cost me what it had for 25+ years. Offering to 'fix' my account billing she stated my new bill would be half what it had been. That was a lie. It's TWICE what it had been. She 'gave' me a 'free' watch that I don't and never will use stating it was for paying too much for service for 25+ years. That was a lie. I'm now making payments and paying for service for an accessory I don't even know how to use and never wanted. She said all my devices...phone, tablet and wifi hotspot were FirstNet compatible and all I had to do was change SIM cards. That was a BIG LIE! I've had to purchase a new FirstNet compatible tablet to run ATAK on for my Military Police work and a 700+ dollar FirstNet compatible wifi hotspot. When I call FirstNet, pleasant as they are they tell me the AT&T Store is wrong. When I talk to the AT&T Store they tell me FirstNet is wrong. I need my systems intact and firing on all cylinders at all times and it seems that's not going to ever happen working with the unprofessionals and blame shifters I have been working with. I'd appreciate some direction as to who I can seek for help getting my gear working and my enormous freaking bill straightened out.

I was totally scammed by an AT&T store representative, I have been an AT&T customer for over 15 years, purchased several phones over the years and have 5 lines on my account. I went into an AT&T store located in Ala Moana Mall Honolulu Hawaii, I went in over a year ago to buy my son a new apple watch, The representative stated that if I signed up for this firstnet deal there would be no additional charges my monthly family plan for all my phones would be the same and I would get a free watch if I purchased the second one. This sounded like a good deal, I was going to buy a watch anyway I told him I was not a first responder, he said no big deal just fill this out and you can join. With this information I said OK, I signed up. After a couple months I noticed I was being billed by two companies, AT&T and this first net company. I was told AT&T and Firstnet is the same company and I would get one bill. I do all my transactions through EFT transfers, Once I found out I was being billed more per month from AT&T and this first net company I went into the store to cancel and return the watch. I went into the same Honolulu Ala Moana store. The rep said that he would fix the problem, I would only get one bill and I didn't have to turn in the watch, He said he would reconfigure my family plan and it would be around $240 a month which is what my normal monthly fee I've been paying for years, He said I did not need to do anything. Then a few months pass I get another bill from the First net company, I went back again and explained the situation. The Honolulu Store rep apologized and said he would fix the problem, I waited 45 minutes then he came back and said his computers were down that he was working the next day, he would take care of it and if he had any issues he would call me to come back into the store. He did not call me and I was paying my AT&T bill every month as I normally do for all 5 of my phones. Then One of my phones was disconnected. It was the phone number they put firstnet on. I went back into the same store and spoke to the assistant manager. he said he had no idea what I was talking about and that I owed $577. I told him I pay my bills on time every month, I owe nothing. he said he could not put that phone they took off my AT&T account back on until I paid them $577, This was a fraudulent SCAM. I plan on filing a complaint to the FCC and disputing these outrages charges and behavior, I've been a loyal AT&T customer for over 15 years spending thousands and this is how they treat you...
