Problem with call forwarding on the nokia lumia 830

Nokia 830 phone settings displays "We're having trouble getting your call forwarding info right now.  Check back in a little while." and does not display the call forwarding on/off button although sometimes it is there for a very brief instant on entering the phone settings menu then disappears faster than it can be selected and displays the above quoted messaging in its place.  Recommended troubleshooting step of power cycling the unit has no effect on this issue and the software/firmware currently installed is confirmed to be the latest.  Any idea what can be done to correct this?  Could not locate this specific issue in any carrier or manufacturer resource or forum.
