DNS could not be reached

by datgull » Sun Jan 16, 2011 6:27 pm

I am running on Windows 7 64 bit and ATT client 8.2.9.3003 and cannot connect from home to the IBM VPN. These messages are found in the log:
[2011/01/16 16:50:46.719] Recommended primary DNS from configuration server is '9.0.4.11', ' ', value superceded by Service Manager.

[2011/01/16 16:50:46.719] Recommended secondary DNS from configuration server is '9.37.0.5', ' ', value superceded by Service Manager.

[2011/01/16 16:50:47.218] Saving new collector list (144.160.245.71,144.160.245.70).

[2011/01/16 16:50:48.341] SLR3012 - 2 record(s) uploaded.

[2011/01/16 16:50:48.341] 0 programs to auto-start After Performing Network Updates.

[2011/01/16 16:50:48.341] SLR3019 - Upload thread ended.

[2011/01/16 16:50:53.458] The configured DNS(s) (9.0.8.1 9.0.9.1) could not be reached. You may not be able to resolve names (like http://www.company.com) during this connection.

How do I resolve this? I cannot ping any w3 sites nor 9.xx addresses.

Hi

About this error :

20:49:03.562 The configured DNS(s) (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxx  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) could not be reached. You may not be able to resolve names (like www.company.com) during this connection.

You may need to uninstall  your   tcpip V6 protocol  from your AGN Virtual adapter  card
via  "my network place"  / View network connection / AGN Virtual network adapter properties / Internet protocol TCPIP V6

and restart your Pc ...

Removing the IPv6 adapter didn't work for me.  Any other ideas?  Even though I see this error in the file my connection seems to work (sometimes).

OK  I am having same issue as this person  I can connect to internet fine with my VPN.    When I use ATT v8.0.2.1 ( IBM internal version)

It connects fine, shows packets but will not allow me on any intranet sites or my internal email

Another interesting this, as per local support desk I dont show AGN adapter and he says I should.  removed ATT re-booted, re-installed, re-booted and it still not there.   Headed into ibm site now, they say if it works there then it is my internet provider...Not sure how thats possible as my internet works fine.   I also have another old machine with att dialer, tried it and it wont hit internal w3 sites either!   So I dont think it is tied to hardware I think it must be whereever the att connects to and it is refusing me...?
