att uverse drive me crazy

First , I opened my account some day in March this year. The saleman did not mention anything about $35 activation fee charge. All he said " was 14.95 per month". no hidden fee cost to me, I  believed it was true. One month later, att uverse billed me over $120 dollars include equipment charge + activation fee + monthly fee. I called up and spoke to two of them. They said " nothing they can do about this, activation fee can not be waive. both of their folks said " 3 month later I will receive a $50 gift card which for promotion I have been charge $75 for wireless modem (to get $50 gift card). I though I just get ripped off $35 activation fee plus $75 equipment charge = $110. After minus $50 gift card, I get over charge for $60. OK... nothing I can do.... It is not done yet..3 months had been past, I did not receive no $50 gift card like their folks said. then I called at least 3 times to speak with four of them... They said" I have to wait another 3 months to get a $50 gift card... another three months were past. I called them again. They told me, this promotion was over, they are no longer provide any $50 gift card to customers. I was so pissed off... It was an errors on att uverse why I was in this bubbe of suffering because they are liar..they do not do their jobs right..I keep calling them and they keep transfer me one to the other dept. I spend more than 2 hour and spoke to at least 10 of them on that they. I finally spoke with one of the real human being CS. he did make a credit adjustment for me, he understand I was an error on their side not me. OK... I complete cool down and do not want to do any more action. I was hoping no more mistake on their side.... this two months they turn around and charge me $35.00 a month instead of $14.95. I email them one but no response. hi uverse trouble creater please resolve this problem ASAP. I get enough from you... Please do not over charge me anymore and resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Seems the upcharging is standard procedure... I was quoted $130 per month for my Uverse Service by an AT$T representative.  I was going to go with Comcast for $120 per month, but for the additional $10 I would get DVR access in all rooms.  So we bought the package.  The first Bill was $189 and included an activation fee which was waived once I complained that it was not mentioned and the phone sales rep said free install more than once.  Well apparently install is different than activation.  I was told my bill could only get as low as $145 as there was a remote charge per TV.  I told them I accepted and signed off on $130 per month with all the services and TV's discussed ahead of time.  Why is there fee's that are added after agreeing on a price???  Second bill shows up it is $170 granted there was one $6.00 rental, but even less the $6.00 the bill is $163?  Where is the $130?  I was then told that $145 was the best they can do and I resigned to the upcharge as I really did not want to change service again.  Now my most recent bill arrives and it is still over $170.  These nickel and dime up charges during a promotional period is not very good business practice and I hope someone from AT&T will honor what I was sold the day I decided to choose AT&T over Comcast.

This is a common theme that I have been reading. This has also happened to me and I am frustrated to find that it is happening to so many others but also feel better that I am not the only one being scammed here. After receiving my bill and spending over 2 hours on the phone trying to figure things out, I eventually had to get back to work and we got nowhere. I am getting ready to file a claim with the BBB if someone doesn't contact me to resolve this soon. I have documented all the other cases that I have read online to present as well.

I was told that I would be paying 14.95/month but have been drastically overcharged. My first bill was over $300!!!

I just received my first bill from ATT for U-verse Internet which was supposed to cost 19.95/month.  When I spoke to Derek on the phone he was as nice as could be and I clarified that I would only be charged 19.95/month, no other fees.  He clarified with saying that there is a one-time fee for the special fiber-optic equipment they send me- $100.  I tried to talk him down on that and he said he could send me a $25 visa gift card.  It's been 3 weeks and I still have not received that card, although I have received plenty of other promotional mailings from ATT.  Logically one could assume that 100 + 19.95 + taxes would be about $130 for the initial bill.  Unfortunately that was not the case.  My bill was $184.19.  The extra was for an "Activation fee" that was certainly not mentioned when I made the phone call to start the service, since I distinctly remember clarifying with the sales rep. I don't care if it is a one-time charge. I want that $49.00 activation fee credited back to my account.  This is not a way to start off my service provider experience in a new city.  Maybe down the road I will be able to afford cable.  You can be sure I will not look to ATT to provide that service.

Exactly similar experience. I was never told of the $49 service activation fee. Already I had to pay the $100 for the gateway which I will not need after my service ends. On top of that, the initial bill also included the said activation fee. I hope there is a way to waive this fee.

I am very frustrated. I am being double billed for a bill i paid 2 times on accident. I imediately canceled the payment i made with the credit card, but to lost mail it took over 4 months for the credit card company to completely remove the charge. Yet now you dont recognize the auto-pay you took out from my checking account..... yet I am staring at the  money on my statement that you have somewhere...

I too am having the same problems, I spoke with a few customer reps. before switching over to the lower uverse. never did any of the reps that I spoke with mention about any activation fees, or I would changed over to my Verizon carrier which is way way less for promo. contracts. My current bill had the same internet price like previous months of $48. so I like many ppl, called to find out the reasons why, now they tell me that it was activation fees, i just got the reason that it was what is was, cannot be changed. Is this a bait and switch? I been with att for over 25 years and hope to have more, but you guys are giving me every reasons to change..

I can't believe that so many people have had this EXACT same issue and it hasn't been solved by ATT.  I received a discount because I bundled with DirecTV.  I was told about the $49 activation fee, but I was NEVER told about the $99 equipment charge that was going to be paid in three installments.  How do they go around doing this to everybody?  It's so frustrating reading everyone's complaints about this.  And the salesman seems like he's on my side telling me, "Oh, you don't want to pay for the install, you can do it yourself, it's really easy.  And it costs $99."  I would never sign up with ATT again.
