Gmail Forwarding Verification

I am attempting to setup a forwarding address within my Google Workspace account to forward certain emails as text messages automatically when they are received. I have attempted to use both the mms and the txt addresses associated to my phone number. The verification email/text that Google sends to verify you have permission to forward emails never makes it through to the phone. I have tested this with other carriers email to text addresses on the same Gmail account and the verification message is received right away. I have also tested sending directly to the email address associated to my phone number, those come through without issue, it is just the Google Verification message that is not received. Also, this is a brand new out of the box phone with a brand new Google Workspace account, there are no blocked contacts that would prevent it showing up on the device.

Any help to get this resolved so I can set the forwarding address to my AT&T phone would be appreciated.
