Is your Microcell tied to a particular account on purchase?

Let me preface this by saying that I have both a personal AT&T account (referred to as Account #1) and a work AT&T account (Account #2).

I recently purchased and was able to activate my Microcell on Account #1, and the Microcell was purchased at an AT&T store.  I recall that the sales person took down my information for Account #1, so it was in a sense "purchased" under that account information.

I want to associate the Microcell with my Account #2 because I now plan on giving up my personal account.  I disconnected the the Microcell from Account #1 and then went through the activation process with Account #2.  I tried to do this 3 or 4 times, but activation never occurred properly.  I called customer support, and they were unable to fix the problem either. (The specific error was Error 101 -- I was never able to get a solid GPS lock.)

I reconnected the Microcell to my Account #1, and it works fine again.  Thus, my question is whether the Microcell is tied to a specific account.  It doesn't seem to me that this should be the case (since you are able to sell or give away your Microcell to someone else), but I really don't know.  Has anyone else had any issues with a Microcell working with one account but not another?  Thanks.

Did you ever resolve this issue?  I'm interested because I may wind wanting to give an extra MicroCell on my account to my son.  I'd want to transfer it to his account.

Moving your AT&T 3G MicroCell from one account to another is possible.  You would need to disconnect the AT&T 3G MicroCell from “Account #1” and then start the activation process with “Account #2”.  When you start the activation for “Account #2”, you must change the address for the AT&T 3G MicroCell to its new location. To update the address you can go to the 3G MicroCell website.

You can use the below Business Forums thread as guide to assist you in changing the address for the AT&T 3G MicroCell:
